The boatsRIBCRAFT 4.8 Our Ribs 4 Kids Ribcraft rib named ‘Rocky’ joined the fleet earlier this year. Rocky is fully kitted out with the latest safety features. Powered by a Yamaha F60 four stroke engine Rocky provides ‘real life’ powerboat experience for our younger students (aged 8 and above). Designed as a complete all-rounder the Ribcraft 4.8 can be adapted to any application. The classic Ribcraft 4.8 design incorporates the qualities of exceptional safety, strength, stability, speed and comfort. Her high sheer bow and classic deep vee hull gives exceptional stability in rough weather whilst keeping the bow high in swells and heavy chop. The hull characteristics and rugged construction are ideally suited for powerboat training. The Ribcraft 4.8 range is used for many different applications all over the world including water-sports, diving, family cruising, commercial use, safety and rescue. What the press say: "If there is one truly outstanding feature about this RIB it is the extraordinary ride it gives . . . . . .it not only gives a very soft ride but a dry one too" RIBCRAFT 5.85 Our main teaching boats are 2 Ribcrafts 5.85m - 'Raider' and 'Gemini'. Raider was commissioned in 2005 and 'Gemini' in 2006. Theses boats can be used in all weather and conditions and will be used to provide year round powerboat training. The latest 5.85 model is superb for the waters around Salcombe and will provide practical high powered boat handling experience to all of our students. 'Raider' and ' Gemini' are fitted with a powerful 115hp Yamaha 4 stroke outboard and carry the Schools high level of safety features. The boats are also fitted with Colour GPS and digital communications.
